The Redwing Pond House is a high quality licensed preschool offering a nature-based curriculum located on the property of the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center. The children spend a great part of each day outdoors, exploring the meadow by the school, hiking the many trails, and planting and tending our children’s garden. Our curriculum is influenced by the changes in weather, wildlife, and the wonders of nature outside our classroom door. 

​The Redwing Pond House Preschool is staffed by professional, loving, and kind teachers, maintaining exceptional child/teacher ratios allows a great deal of individualized attention and developmentally appropriate challenges for each child.  Our preschool provides a comfortable and nurturing environment for each child to explore and grow, while initiating them into a lifelong, meaningful relationship with the natural world as they prepare to enter kindergarten.

Hands On

Children and teachers explore and learn alongside each other in a supportive and nurturing environment.  The teachers are interacting with, not instructing, the children throughout the day, instilling a sense of responsibility and community. We encourage children to work together and  support growth in each other.

Minds Engaged

The class spends the majority of their days at school exploring the trails, meadows, and gardens outside our doors.  These excursions are natural learning experiences guided with intention by the teachers. Creativity, discovery and exploration are facilitated through discussion, modeling and encouragement by our nurturing and knowledgable staff.
